What is, "WHO AM I?"
Maria, like most teens, struggled growing up and was not aware that she wasn’t different for feeling this way. Moving around often from country to country and different school, languages and cultures, Maria often felt like she did not "fit in." She got bullied and rejected, seeked attention in unhealthy ways and struggled with body image... She carried that with her for many years until she learned this experience didn’t mark her as “worthless”.
Unfortunately these days, it's harder than ever on our children! Social media has not helped!
This has created a powerful & strong desire to help pre-teens/teens to find self-acceptance & love for who they are!
Social Media & Bullying affects 1 in 4 students. Maria watched her own daughter go through this all, and the impact it had on their self-esteem and self-worth. We all know the power this has to destroy our children and that’s why…
Maria decided to start the “Who I am” portrait project in her Charleston, SC studio. The aim of this project is to fill in the challenging years while empowering the lives of pre-teens/teens.
The main goal is to make these girls look and feel beautiful and be confident in WHO THEY ARE.I want to tell their story!
Who is this project for?
Every month, Maria will be looking for ONE LUCKY pre-teen/teenage girl aged 10-16 years for this empowering project.
Selection will be based on your application/story. When a child is selected we will work with them to create gorgeous portraits that reflect their story then combine a written story and the photographs to create one impactful piece of art about them. We will publish these on our BLOG and printed news publications.
Why, "WHO AM I?"
We want to capture the personality of these pre-teens/teens and record the last page of their childhood life before they become young adults.
I want them to realize their true beauty so that they are CONFIDENT in themselves before they are away at college.
IMAGINE the impact a single beautiful image can do for your young child’s self-image & self-esteem.
Help your child find their inner strength to stand up & be strong!
What does it cost?
Only one girl will be selected per month, we want to tell 12 stories a year! To be a part of the project you must . . .
